My first sentence already tells you “im a fan” but hold on!!! Haha i was just neh~~ ok~~
Call Me By your Name.
Music :
the mystery of love
If you have already read this book then i guess just this title is enough to bring you to the scene where they had agreed on this is “their thing” and will always be their thing. Or rather.. Just Elio.
The book speaks alot more on the art pieces and of all the knowledge Elio has for such a young age than in the movie. i mean many might not realise it even though they do talk about it in the movie itself. Written beautifully and definitely easy to lead you to almost picturing the scenes through just reading it without even watching ~ yep i read the book before i tried the movie. ðĪ
**hey you know for readers, books are always way better than the movies!!! Dont fight me with that, you know that!!!** ðĪŠ
The knowledge between the 2 individuals and the emotions respectively given their age difference, written ever so softly and gently.
With references like language, art, music and even locations, i have no other words than its just beautiful. But when i finished it, it didn't really knock me out of this world, it was just "awe......." yeah thats about it.
In love,
Its like the whole world could see that they are in love except for themselves. But everyone kept their comments and distance, allowing the pair to enjoy this possibility to further itself without any stress. And the characters just trying to focus on what and how they are being affected by each other. Like a whole universe only belonging to them both.
In emotions,
Halfway through the book i swear i was cursing at Elio cos... omg spite is def a no no when u are hoping to have something with someone and omg the thoughts in his mind. But hey he IS supposed to be a teen. So fine, its the age which by the way is extremely normal to be aggressive yet sensitive and confused on what he wants.
But, i know what you are still oohing at. At the sexual tension they shared. I gotta say its not always you get a chance to read on topics of the LGBT community wih such complexity of finding oneself . I mean you get stories like afraid to come out of the closet, afraid of being judged, afraid of what the world would think but this, they were only afraid more on what they think about each other more than what others think of them. And given the reactions of friends and family written in the book, its no longer about awareness, its inclusion.
I was scarred though. I think many are like me ð
scarred by the peach scene. Now i can never see peaches in a really normal way without feeling anything. Im not gonna spoil anything haha but yeah if u read the book you would know.
The last chapter, i was almost expecting it to happen, not that it didnt surprise me but honestly what could you have expected right? The thoughts that Elio eventually had on his teen hood, of this love, of his growing up meeting many many more loves, and eventually facing his first again, im sure many of us can relate that the first love with all your heart is and will always be the one that leaves that everlasting impression. Or maybe then again , you will only remember the sweetest memories becos you have never fully owned that person before. Only that love is one that was never tainted with bad memories.
Oh well i give this book a 4 out of 5 becos i was going ballastic trying my best not to throw the book across the hall cursing at Elio at one point in the book. But overall i enjoyed it~ **winks**
